Carrasco Soon To Be A Pirate

‘Tis the season for Pittsburgh Pirates fans.  January and February are the times of the year the Pirates sign their free agents, also known as bargain time.  D.J. Carrasco and the Pirates have agreed to terms on a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training.  The signing has not been made official, yet.

Two more relievers are targeted and expected in the next few days.  Octavio Dotel is one of the targets and rumored to be closest to being the next announcement.

BTW Take:

Carrasco will make $950K + $250K in bonuses based on appearances if he makes the team.  Carrasco is a poor mans right handed version of John Grabow.  Suddenly the bullpen is starting to take shape.  If Dotel is signed, the bullpen has the look and feel of a surprise strength for the team.  The real question will be how the team will score runs.
