The Toronto Blue Jays claimed reliever T.J. Beam off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Beam was DFAed when the Pirates signed Eric Hinske. To make room on their roster, Toronto DFAed Russ Adams. Adams is a shortstop who was the Blue Jays number 1 pick, 14th overall, in the 2002 draft.
BTW Take:
I would not be surprised to see the Pirates return the favor by claiming Adams from the Jays. Adams is 28 and could be a decent bridge player when/if Jack Wilson is traded. If nothing else, he can play multiple positions and could be a utility player.
