From Pirates.com Newsletter:
The Pirates today agreed to terms on a two-year contract with free agent infielder Ramon Vazquez.
Vazquez, 32, set career bests with a .290 batting average and 40 RBIs last season with the Texas Rangers.
He also played all four infield positions, including 70 appearances at third base and 26 at shortstop.
Vazquez has a career .257 batting average in eight Major League seasons.
BTW Take:
It is very interesting the news release specifically mentions him playing 70 games at third base. True, it also mentions shortstop, but I see Vazquez as a utility guy who could be the fallback for third if LaRoche and Walker both struggle.
