Surprise, Surprise, Surprise

JVB was sent back to Indy...
Doumit fractures his finger...
The Pirates are 19-20...

Which is the most surprising?

JVB does not surprise me in the slightest. The few times I have seen him pitch have left me uninspired. I have said it in the past, and I will say it again. Until JVB learns to pitch, he will never be more thaan a AAAA star.
JVB does not change speeds at all. He relies on an average at best 92 mph fastball, at times he falls in love with it. After going thru a batting order once, batters get the timing down on him. Relief or a switch to a position are his only hopes of staying in Pittsburgh.

Doumit with a freak injury? No surprise. If Doumit was on 'Deal or No Deal', he would walk out with a penny. I wonder if Doumit translates to Murphy in Yiddish?

To be honest, I am not surprised at 19-20. I am surprised at the fact they are 19-14 against teams not called the Cubs. Even more inspiring is the Pirates no longer can guarantee a loss every 5th day now Morris is retired.

There is my surprise, the Pirates eating $9M.

Personal note:
I am in Pittsburgh until Monday for family reasons. For those who do not know me, while born and raised in Pittsburgh, I currently live in Iowa so I will be sponging off family for a few days. Updates the next few days will be sporadic at best. The good news is I am in town for good reasons. Keep those prayers a flowiing, they have helped immensely. Thank You.
