On Monday former major leaguers Ken Holtzman, Ron Blomberg and Art Shamsky were named as managers in the Israel Baseball League.
The league will be a 6 team league playing 45 games in 8 weeks. The cities with teams will be announced later this week.
Dan Duquette is the league's director of baseball operations and Daniel Kurtzer is its commissioner.
BTW Take:
This is an excellent opportunity for the Pirates to get their scouting improved overseas. It may take a few years, but their will be some talented players coming out of this league. Since the Pirates are currently working on getting back into the Latin American market, the Pirates should at least attempt to corner at least one market.
