Its Not Trot

ESPN is reporting Trot Nixon has agreed to a 1 year $3M contract with the Indians. This report is according to Peter Gammons.

BTW Take:
If the Pirates signed Trot, it would have only confused issues with the team. This, in my opinion, is a good non-signing. How would he have confused issues.

Long term, we would not get to see what Doumit can actually do and where he can play. Nixon would take at bats away from him and Bautista.

Short Term, he would have been good insurance on the bench, I just fear Tracy would lean on him too much and stunt some of the young bats.

If the team was ready for a playoff run, Nixon would be a nice add-on piece. We aren't there yet.
